Closed-Cell Spray Foam:
Density & Structure: Closed-cell spray foam is denser and more rigid, forming a hard, compact structure when applied. This provides added structural strength to walls, ceilings, and roofs.
R-Value: It offers a higher R-value per inch (about R-6 to R-7), making it one of the most effective insulators available.
Moisture Barrier: Due to its density, closed-cell foam acts as a vapor barrier, preventing moisture penetration and offering better protection against mold and mildew.
Applications: Ideal for areas requiring maximum insulation and structural support, such as basements, exterior walls, and roofs. It’s also effective for specialty uses like lifting concrete slabs or filling underwater voids.
Open-Cell Spray Foam:
Density & Structure: Open-cell spray foam is lighter and more flexible, expanding up to 100 times its original size to fill gaps and cracks.
R-Value: With an R-value of around R-3.5 to R-4 per inch, it provides solid insulation but is less dense than closed-cell foam.
Sound Dampening: Its softer, more flexible nature makes it excellent for soundproofing, as it absorbs sound waves effectively.
Applications: Best suited for interior applications like walls, ceilings, and attics where soundproofing and breathability are priorities. It is not recommended for areas exposed to water or heavy moisture.
fiberglass insulation
